The season of blooming hydrangeas has arrived at Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens, transforming the grounds into a breathtaking floral landscape.
Beginning in June, approximately 3,000 pots of hydrangeas begin to bloom along the 150-meter pathway from the entrance into the garden, as well as along the main street and throughout key locations such as the Pavilion. Through September, the gardens will be awash in vibrant pinks, purples, fresh whites, and soft greens.
As the seasons transition from early summer into autumn, the vivid hues of the hydrangeas gradually deepen into beautiful antique tones. This changing palette over four months has become a signature highlight of Hakone Gardens, harmonizing beautifully with the natural terrain of Gora, Hakone.
In June, we will host a special fair where visitors can purchase Scandinavian outdoor furniture displayed throughout the garden at exclusive prices. Our Grill Fair in July will feature 100% Danish-style hot dogs and original Japanese beef burgers, freshly prepared on outdoor barbecue grills. These events are designed to let you fully enjoy the great outdoors while experiencing something truly unique.
Scandinavian Furniture Fair | June 1 – June 30

Featuring pieces crafted from sustainable materials like natural oak and powder-coated metals, including designs by Skagerak, known for aging beautifully over time. Enjoy the comfort and elegance of these furnishings in the garden and order them at special prices during this limited-time fair.
Grill Fair | July 25 – August 3
Savor the flavors of summer with picnic-style grilled dishes created by the Danish chef of NOMU hakone. Enjoy authentic Danish-style hot dogs, gourmet burgers made from Japanese beef, and other exclusive recipes featuring local ingredients and house-made buns. You’re welcome to enjoy your meal anywhere in the garden, surrounded by fresh mountain air and natural beauty.
