The invention of the signature flower box came about after a consultation with a client who was looking for gift options.
The client had a specific request of 600 gift to be handed out at a brand’s press event. There was however, limitation in storage space for the gifts which was the point to be kept in mind for the proposal. Stacking and storing is challenging when the gift items are fresh flowers, so at the beginning, Nicolai tried various ideas such as placing bouquets and arrangements into boxes to do this. With each idea also came new problems, such as disproportionate gaps in the boxes and an overall unsatisfactory esthetic quality. After much trial and error, Nicloai finally reached the idea of laying flowers directly into a square box.
The birth of the flower box arrangement was soon followed by the opening of the very first Nicolai Bergmann Flowers & Design store in the renowned select store ESTNATION, and attracted much attention from fashion and design industries as items of unique perspective.
Gradually, the flower box became increasingly popular and today remains as the Nicolai Bergmann Flowers & Design signature product.
We have asked artists, creators and other leading figures of various artistic fields admired by Nicolai to design a box which Nicolai designed the flowers to be inlaid. This truly one of a kind flower box series by these spectacular creators will be exhibited in the show. We hope the audience will be able to experience the unique possibilities of flower design.
